Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We’re getting close to the free screening and discussion of the PBS program “Being Mortal” on March 15, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 a.m. at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. You will be a part of a national dialog taking place in our community that asks “Have you and your family had the tough conversations and planned ahead?”

This film delves into the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness. It investigates the practice of caring for the dying and explores the relationships between patients and their doctors. We will watch surgeon, Dr. Atul Gawande, as he shares stories from the people and families he encounters. When Dr. Gawande’s own father gets cancer his search for answers about how to best care for the dying becomes a personal quest.

After the screening, you can participate in a guided conversation on how to take concrete steps to identify and communicate about end-of-life wishes, goals, and preferences. Come join the conversation and explore what matters to you!

The free screening is made possible by a grant from The John and Wauna Harman Foundation in partnership with the Hospice Foundation of America. Hosted by CompassionCare Hospice and Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, for more information or to rsvp please email njuliano@cchlv.com
