It’s not uncommon to hear that hospice workers make superhuman efforts to pay attention to detail and help maintain an ill person’s dignity at the end of their life. Typically, hospice care is a team effort – combining  physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, home health aides, clergy, therapists, and trained volunteers. Their joint efforts are not only focused on relieving pain and symptoms, but also on giving social, emotional, and spiritual support to both the patient and their family.

We understand that each person’s journey through the dying process is unique. The hospice team treats each individual we care for as a whole person. We are here to help caregivers learn how to care for their loved one and support them with information and resources to help work through any caregiving challenges they may face. At CompassionCare we believe that hospice affirms life and recognizes that dealing with a life-limiting illness up until one’s final day is a process. With the hospice team at hand, a person can still maintain a higher quality of life than they would without hospice support. Working in hospice, hospice employees experience making a difference in this world and come to work with a great meaning and purpose. Being able to support patients and families through one of the most sensitive times in their lives is truly rewarding.

Hospice isn’t something to be afraid of, it’s about making this process as comfortable as possible for all involved. Hospice team members get the privilege of meeting new patients and families every day. Being invited into their homes and lives we experience amazing stories and meet remarkable individuals that also touch and enrich our lives. The hospice team is forever grateful to be able to help those we come in contact with through their end of life journey.
