Support for Our Military Families

Military Family Month was established in 1996 by the Armed Services YMCA, with the U.S. Government recognizing the occasion every year. Each November, the President signs a proclamation declaring November Military Family Month and with hundreds of thousands of service members deployed overseas, recognizing the daily sacrifices made by military families is highly necessary.

As we approach Veterans Day on November 11th, we acknowledge and appreciate our veterans – past and present for their noble and brave service to our nation. We offer gratitude for their sacrifice and for the protection of our freedoms. CompassionCare Hospice supports our veterans as well as family members of veterans, who also have sacrifices. Spouses, children and extended family celebrate birthdays, holidays and major events in their life-without their special loved-one, all for our freedoms.

Here are some ways you can show your appreciation too:

Volunteer your time to help a family (allow a spouse some alone time while you watch over their kids) or volunteer along with them in an organization that is meaningful to the both of you. Be there to listen, sometimes letting someone vent is more helpful than we realize. Another great idea is sending them a care package-often times others forget to care for themselves.

Community leaders, businesses, and military bases and posts are teaming up to recognize military families through special month. Click on the link below for a list of discounts to take advantage of this month.
