Hospice isn’t a place. It’s a type of care that focuses on living. Living as fully as possible, with the best quality of life, up until the end of life. Hospice care services provide comfort, support, and respect to the patients and families we care for. Hospice attends to the whole person-not just the disease.

Hospice services include a team of professionals – physicians, nurses, social workers, certified nursing assistants, and even volunteers that assist in making sure that you’re fully informed and well-prepared to care for a loved one to the best of your ability. Services such as expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support are provided to the patient and their loved ones. Hospice respects the patient’s needs and wishes.

Hospice offers the services and support wanted when coping with a serious or life-limiting illness. You can consult with your family and physician, then decide together what type of care you’ll receive. That care (hospice) is provided to you in your home. You can even leave hospice treatment if you choose, and return later. Traditional medicine treats the disease. Hospice attends, with compassion and respect, to your physical, emotional and spiritual needs as well. Hospice also offers caregivers vital support and education.

According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, research shows that 8 out of 10 Americans would want to stay in their homes surrounded by family and loved ones if they were faced with a life-limiting illness. If your health continues to worsen despite aggressive treatment, or if you have made the decision to stop hospitalizations and treatments-you may want to consider hospice. CompassionCare can help you better understand the nature of your illness, the likely outcome of your current course of treatment, what may happen next, and how we can help you achieve the best quality of life possible.

Hospice is covered under Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans. If you have questions about hospice care, would like more information, or would like to request an evaluation for our services, call our Admissions Department today at 702-636-0200.
