National Women’s Health Week is the week of May 9.

National Women’s Health Week is a reminder to women to take care of themselves. Your health is a priority. Protect your health by getting the care you need to prevent disease, disability, and injuries. Regular check-ups are important. Preventive care can keep disease away or detect problems early, when treatments are usually more effective. Talk to your doctor to learn more about what screenings and exams you should have and when. Nutrition and physical activity are both key to a healthy lifestyle. They can also both decrease your risk of heart disease as well. The leading cause of death for women is heart disease. It is the little things that go a long way. Daily decisions can affect your overall health in a big way. Wear sunscreen to decrease your risk of skin cancer. Choosing to be smoke-free is another big choice you have that can impact your health. Shingles and pneumonia shots are two big vaccinations that many older women speak with their healthcare providers about. All too often we forget about our mental health. Your mental health is part of your overall health. Older adults are at an increased risk for experiencing stress, depression, and other mental health concerns. CompassionCare Hospice wants you to be the best you, you can be.  And that includes your health. Take control of your health. CompassionCare Hospice supports National Women’s Health Week.
