March is national nutrition month.
National nutrition month serves as a reminder and an educational purpose brought to us annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme this year is “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right.”
It is quite fitting that national nutrition month is March. March lands right in between winter and summer. Many of us have many holiday gatherings during the winter months. Delectable food is usually a staple at these gatherings. With this delectable food, brings unwanted weight gain. Healthy eating and regular exercises is needed all year long though some of us need a friendly reminder. Trade in your unhealthy habits for healthy ones. Healthy eating fuels the body for every stage of life.
As we age, healthy eating can make a difference in our health, help to improve how we feel, and encourage a sense of well-being. Making healthy food choices is a smart thing to do—no matter how old you are! Your body changes through your 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond. Food provides nutrients you need as you age. Food and physical activity choices are personal. Be the best you, you can be.
